Marina Cherry is of a breed that is hard to define. Like many humans, she is a layered multitude of bits and pieces. A contortionist/acro-dancer by formal training, she was educated at École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels following the start of her professional circus training at École Nationale de Cirque in Montreal.
Originally from Montana in the US, Marina spent her childhood immersed in gymnastics, dance, painting and orchestral music, before discovering the world of circus. Finding her singular niche somewhere deep in the pockets between contemporary circus and dance, her creations place research, innovation and a questioning of convention at their core.
Primarily a solo artist, she also enjoys collaborations and is working in diverse projects around Europe including the upcoming production by Belgian company Petri Dish. Marina also works as a pedagogue and on her travels loves giving workshops in movement research, acro-dance and handstands. She is simultaneously pursuing a degree in philosophy (online) at the University of London.
