My House

We have just relocated to Sweden after 10 years in the UK, moving our company, Apocalyptic Circus, with us and giving it a new name: In Balance Circus Company. In Balance is a family run company which builds on work we’ve been doing since 2012. HOUSE is our second big production, created with Sunniva Byvard. Over the last few years we have focused on creating and being part of shows for family audiences. In our work we take inspiration from our lives and the people around us. We value circus greatly, and we always aim to create productions with high level skills at their core. Linn studied on Stockholm University of the Arts’ Circus Program before meeting Tom (who trained as a theater technician in Bristol) soon after her graduation in 2010. Their passion for detail and shared idea of what’s important in a production made them not only start a family but also Apocalyptic Circus – now In Balance.

About the performance

Come close and peer through the enticing doors and windows. Meet two strange-looking figures, each with their own very different way of being. They provoke and play with one another, trying to find a way to exist together in this quirky-looking house of theirs. MY HOUSE is a circus-theater experience for little people and their families. Through high level circus techniques and comedy, two artists playfully show us how it is possible to understand one another, even though we may all be very different. After the show, everyone is welcome to explore and play in the structure. MY HOUSE premiered in May 2019 and played over 60 shows that summer. It was always well received. An even larger tour was booked for 2020 in Scandinavia and the UK.

Intended audience

Children and family.

Kasta loss

Angela Wand is an artist/creator with 25 years of stage experience as a physical actor, clown and circus artist. Angela has worked in theatre, TV, film, on the street, in refugee camps and hospitals, at events and on commercials, both leading her own projects and working with numerous companies to reach a broad and international audience. The music and soundscape for the performance has been written and created by Theresia Billberg, who also runs the tech for the show.

About the performance

Kasta loss is an adventure for all. How would it feel to be completely alone on a boat in the middle of the sea with no land in sight? What would a normal day look like? What would you eat for breakfast? Come onboard and meet a lonely captain with her unusual ship and her even more unusual crew. Meet Allan the parrot, see whales and dolphins and hear how the captain saved her ship from the evil octopus. Better hold on tight because the storm is coming and the captain is about to cast off!

Allt som är mitt

The show is made in a collaboration with the groups Kollektiv Knaster and Spinning Compass Performance. The artists Alaya Vindelman and Andrea Hilario have been performing and creating shows and productions together over the last decade, with aerial rope as their main circus discipline. Johannes Starke is a juggler, acrobat and the captain Spinning Compass Performance’s circus ship, Johanne.

About the performance

Allt som är mitt is a contemporary circus performance about consumption, relationships, and the willingness to fit in. In the show you will meet three characters who constantly want more – the newest thing and the latest gadget. As they buy and collect their objects they proudly show off what they own, but still have a hard time finding satisfaction. The show consists of playful choreographies, acrobatics, juggling and object manipulation. A visual performance that suits the whole family, independent of specific age or language.

Intended audience

From 6 years
