Pisaroita iholla (Drops on Skin)

Drops on Skin is a playful in-depth contemporary circus piece in which water and touch are thematically juxtaposed as natural forces that are essential to life, but also dangerous. Both water and touch are omnipresent in different forms. Small drops, tears, splashes and even the lightest stroke are vital to us.

Many of the things people struggle with, are invisible from the outside. Something being invisible doesn’t mean it’s not present. Instead of pushing down the pain, hiding the broken and painful parts, they should, at times at least, be allowed to be shown and take space. To be accepted as the strongest parts of us and thank them for everything they still allow us to do. They deserve to be seen, heard and loved. Sometimes we need the help of a touch or droplets, like tears, warm shower or rain to let this pain out.

Pisaroita iholla is a visual, surprising piece that takes the spectator to an emotional journey where water is symbolising these thematics on a journey towards acceptance. The piece breaks the tabus related to the artists physical and mental health and shows an authentic, more vulnerable side of the performer on stage.

The piece will be a 45 minute long contemporary circus performance to be performed at theatre stages. Nelli approach the themes of the performance through foot juggling and circus combined with music composed and performed live on stage by Harri Kuusijärvi.
